Northway came into the season for the first time in a long while as having a good chance of winning the championship; but with two strong teams coming up from the "B" league, St Edmunds gunning for their title back, and a revitalized Kidlington, it was always going to be an open championship challenge. Northway started the season with an away draw at Wheatley. Although they dominated the game Northway struggled to score goals. The second game was away again to Old Woodstock, one of the fancied promoted teams. This time Northway cam away with a good 0-2 win. Although rarely outstanding Northway had a habit of digging out a win. Another crunch game was against North Oxford; after about eight games both teams were top and unbeaten. Again Northway edged the game 3-4. This gave the players belief that it could really be their season as other top teams were dropping points against each other. Halfway through the season Northway were top and unbeaten.
Things took a turn for the worse when inspirational midfielder Jordan Tabor left to join Chelsea. This came at a bad time as twice in three weeks Northway had to play St Edmunds, a team they had never beaten. The away fixture was lost with two silly mistakes, although Northway took the home fixture to St Edmunds one goal decided it and it was scored by St Edmunds.
